A Great day of Riding

It felt good to get out of the city

Pops, Scoot, Me, Fuzzy, Milford
& Tony Bonez

Another Great Day! Except that I hit a 60-70lb Deer at 30 mph as the sun was going down while riding up to our house on Terry's Peak. Luckily I didn't lay down the FXR but the little fucker bent the fender and cracked the fairing. Talk about Pucker Factor!!!

I didn't get a picture of it due to my adrenaline getting the best of me... hopefully one of the other guys snapped a shot for me to share later

Trick Tom Goes 261.5 mph at the Texas Mile

Here's a little write up from a local message board about my buddy Tommy Gates about his Record setting weekend.

TOMMY GATES HAS BEEN AROUND RACING FOR A LONG TIME. "TRICK TOM" AS WE CALLED HIM BACK IN THE DAY WAS ONE OF THE DRIVERS FOR KEVIN MASSEY'S INFAMOUS "GOLDUST" CAMARO. WE DIDN'T SEE HIM FOR A WHILE THEN A FEW YEARS BACK HE POPS UP ON A MOTORCYCLE AND STARTS RUNNING THE TEXAS MILE.

Here's what Tom Had to say about the record setting run, "See the attached, the last pic is me going through the traps at 253 in a bad cross wind, SCARY!"

I built this bike from scratch in 3 months with help from Schnitz Racing, RCC Turbos, Third Coast Speed, Chris Brandon, and Mark Dearza. Chris did all the fab work, welding and wiring. I built the chassis, motor, etc. and put it all together. It’s a stock bore 1300cc Hayabusa engine with a stock cases, crank, and head. It makes over 600 rear wheel horse power via a Garrett GT40R turbo and an air/water intercooler. It ran the 261.5 on the 4th run ever on the bike. There’s more left in it but the wind picked up and it wasn’t worth the risk since I already had the record. They hold these standing mile races at 4 places in the USA and 1 in Europe, so I’m currently the worlds fastest motorcycle in the standing mile.

Congratulations Tom!

FXR Update

I'll admit, I suck at this! But I'm even worse about taking pictures and not down loading them for months! In this case weeks, but this is where I'm at on the wifes FXR.
Originally the plan was to do a Silver and Black two tone separated by a red pinstripe, but she wanted something a little more Radical so we opted for "Perfect Purple" Flames. (She Wanted Pink but I had to put my foot down!) Robert Talton will be coming by in a few days to lay some pinstripe the flames.

New Addition to the Fleet

So... You know how the story goes... My wonderful wife has naturally taken an interest in Motorcycles over the past few years of hanging in the garage while I try and make something street worthy out of mix matched parts that I find, and partially due to the fact that it's pretty much all I talk about. Shockingly, she mentioned a few weeks ago that she'd like to start riding on her own. That is actually how the Blue rigid I build not to long ago came to be, but that's another story I can share later. Since I had heard that song before, I passed it off as her just trying to add to the conversation. Turns out she meant it this time and signed herself up for the Riders safety course at our Local HD dealer. Now its time to find her a scoot of her own!
So I set out to find her a FXR. I hear about how good they handle, lower seat height, etc. and like the reliability of an Evo. After some phone calls to some old buddies of mine, I hear about this pretty decent FXR on Craigslist. I got my good friend Tony to come a long so we could have a good look at the girl and struck a deal with the seller. SOB didn't know what he had and let it go for a price in my favor. So here she is... Finally got around to taking a few pics as she was when I got her. More Pics to follow as I make a few necessary modifications.
This thing is a blast to ride! Not like the Shovel I ride, but more like a rocket that begs you to hammer down and blast past every car you see!
